    Update on my #DigestiveHealth Journey……..@SamsClub

So in the past two weeks I have been on a journey to improve my digestive health. If you remember I was given the opportunity to try Sam’s Club Member’s Mark 4X Probiotic and was given a 3 months supply. I began taking it right away along with my other medications that I take. Currently before that I was taking a very expensive medical grade probiotic and I was curious if this more affordable version would work similar. It would be much easier on my wallet!

I began taking probiotics after my 3rd child was born. It was an emergency situation so I had to have a c-section and unfortunately I developed a full body yeast infection about 4-6 months after she was born. (They are not actually sure when it started, only that it was virulent and through my whole body) I developed Chronic Fatigue because of it and have been dealing with quite a few health problems since. At that time I was also diagnosed with leaky gut syndrome (holes in your intestine). Basically probiotics saved my life. It healed my leaky gut (I still have flares if I am not careful) and helped curb some of the fatigue. Some people tell me they don’t need to take probiotics because they have never had digestive problems. They are wrong. Probiotics help keep the balance in your body and PREVENT digestive problems you may be susceptible to in the future. Take it from me…..

    My observations…..

Right off I noticed that I didn’t get the usual bloating effect that my other probiotic usually gives me when I start taking it. I attribute this to the fact that it doesn’t have the gelatin casing that my other probiotic does. That is a definite plus for me. It is a easy pill to take, goes down with out an after taste. I really am turned off by pills that leave a taste or powdery film in your mouth. I love the fact that each probiotic is separated into daily pills and are labeled to that day. I take a lot of pills and some times it’s hard to remember which pills I took!

So what are my results after two weeks? In a word, balanced.

I am quite pleased with the probiotics. For a regular strength probiotic it works really well. I had to supplement with my other probiotic a few times because I indulged in a little too many foods that I shouldn’t have (a Portillo’s Italian Beef, so yummy they are HARD to resist), but because I have leaky gut, it was necessary. I am quite happy that I found a quality budget friendly probiotic. My plan is to take Member’s Mark Probiotic on a daily basis and use my other stronger probiotic to combat IBS flare-ups as they occur. I am not really convinced yet that Member’s Mark Probiotic works better than the probiotic yogurt I get from Trader Joe’s, but since I have been taking probiotics for a few years now, I do know that it can take awhile to show effectiveness.

    Would I recommend it? Yes.

With limitations though. If your digestive problems are severe these probiotics may not help you. I recommend this probiotic to some one who needs help balancing their digestive system on a daily basis with mild to moderate digestive problems.

    About jen @craftymomof3

I am a "crafty" mom of 3 who has been blogging for 10+ years. I’ve been a product reviewer/influencer on and off, but mostly just write about life and food I love. I’m a dyslexic, an extreme book addict, a total nerd, a fangirl, and a paranormal enthusiast. I am a New Englander at heart but I currently live in the MidWest. I am obsessed with the ocean, food, tech, books, anything supernatural, and although I am hopelessly sarcastic...I am a softy. Oh, and I like coffee. A LOT.
