Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches:The Fuel My Kids Need!

It’s been a crazy fall already in the Crafty Family. T signed up for Cross Country (which was a lot more involved than I had ever thought) and is training for track in the spring, G is involved in Volleyball, stage crew and Girl Scouts and Lulu started preschool along with ballet. If I have learned nothing during this busy time, it’s the importance of quick, easy meals that also meet my growing kids taste and nutritional needs. It’s easier said than done. T is 14 and growing at a rapid pace. Pair that with the intensive running he has been doing, he’s eating us out of house and home!  I noticed after some of his Cross Country meets just how amped up his appetite was, it had almost doubled. Yikes!

T in a last push during a XC meet

So I was asked to try Tyson Mini Chicken Sandwiches and I think after trying them we have found a solution! They come in a box of 8 mini sandwiches in 2 packs that you can easily pop in the microwave. Each 2 pack are done in around 1 minute and cook up nice. No soggy bun, no freezer burn taste. Just the usual Tyson goodness. We were already a Tyson family, we eat a lot of Tyson products and have since the kids were little. They are affordable, you can get a lot of coupons for the products in the inserts in the paper, plus they taste good.

We were really impressed by all the varieties we purchased. T liked the cheese, G liked the plain because she could add her own flair. She loves food that allows her to add her own flair. I liked the sandwiches because they filled them up. With T especially it’s important that food fills him up. He gets hungry really quick. T is also a little picky, since Tyson chicken patties are his favorite food, it’s a win-win. When I made the snack after T came back from training and G was done with volleyball we put it together with Gatorade (to replace electrolytes), an apple (for sweet) and some Lays chips (for salty). The kids said it was a perfect snack. Not quite a meal but still filling.

Check out our After Sporting Event Snack we created!

We started with the products we bought at Walmart. Place the chicken on microwaveable plates. Pop them into the microwave and enter the time that is appropriate for you microwave per the box.
Flip the package over and then finish cooking. G decided to make her's "hawaiian chicken". She put BBQ sauce and chunks of pineapple on her chicken to make it hawaiian style.
She added an apple and chips to her sandwich. Her's was a little messy. It may not be a good fit to eat while doing homework!
T decided to just stick with the cheese. He said his was good and hit the spot after his run!
Looks yummy huh? I can definitely say they were a hit and we will be buying them again.

    About jen @craftymomof3

I am a "crafty" mom of 3 who has been blogging for 10+ years. I’ve been a product reviewer/influencer on and off, but mostly just write about life and food I love. I’m a dyslexic, an extreme book addict, a total nerd, a fangirl, and a paranormal enthusiast. I am a New Englander at heart but I currently live in the MidWest. I am obsessed with the ocean, food, tech, books, anything supernatural, and although I am hopelessly sarcastic...I am a softy. Oh, and I like coffee. A LOT.
