The Story of Frosty and Aura – #CatChowCares

In late January of 2015 I wasn’t in a great place. My health was iffy, our bills were piling up and I was stuck inside working more to help compensate for that. Two of my kids are older and aren’t home plus my nine year old is starting to become more scheduled. I am not saying I was empty nesting but I was getting lonely in the house. I LOVE cats. I am both a cat and dog person but for some reason cats and I click. I think they sense the introvert in me and gravitate. I opened up Facebook and saw the picture above. Two little kittens who had really hard beginnings. They were in the same shelter and had bonded big time. Their “person” said you would’ve thought they were litter mates. Their names were Frosty and Aura. Then I saw these pictures.

I was done for. I showed my daughter and she fell in love with Frosty and it was all over. These little babies needed to be part of our family. Aura was described as feisty and Frosty a rag doll who just wants food and love. Perfect fit.

They came home a few weeks later after all the paperwork, references etc were done. Our family hasn’t been the same since, for the better. Aura is a princess and a trouble maker, so naturally she’s my cat. My husband and myself  are her humans. If she can’t find us she will call out until we answer. Frosty is more aloof and laid back. He definitely goes with the flow and is more chill, unless you give him catnip. Then the quirky, adorable, chirping, crazy boy comes out. We adore them. They have the run of the house. Everyday when I get up it’s coffee and treats time. Trust me, Frosty lets me know if I forget. He has this adorable lion meow that pretty much has me wrapped around his little paw.

We have been training them with their harnesses because we live on a busy street and can’t fathom letting them outside without us, but want them to get used to hanging by our sides when they are on them. We decide to take the chill boy to the store to try out his tolerance level and to check and see if they had any Purina Indoor Cat Chow.

    Why Purina Cat Chow?

This year, Purina Cat Chow is focused on delivering great nutrition to cats in the care of animal welfare organizations to help them become healthy and ready for their forever homes with its “Nutrition to Build Better Lives” program. Frosty and Aura want to help their fellow cats in need! During the month of July, for every bag of Purina Cat Chow you buy your cat, a meal will be donated to a cat in need. Purina Cat Chow is encouraging cat people to join in its cause to support shelter cats by buying a bag of Purina Cat Chow from July 1 through July 31. To help Purina Cat Chow reach its goal of donating five million meals to shelter cats across the country, cat people can purchase any size bag of Purina Cat Chow from July 1 through July 31. For every bag purchased, Purina Cat Chow will donate one meal, up to five million meals, directly to Rescue Bank. Now, the simple act of buying a bag of food for your cat can help the cat community-at-large and feed a cat in need looking for their forever home. How cool is that? You have to feed your cat anyway, so it’s a win-win situation.

He’s such a big boy now! He waltzed right into the store like he’s an old pro and found the food right away, which didn’t surprise us by the way. We were so proud of him and the store clerks remarked how well behaved he was, basically leading my daughter around the store, instead of the other way around.

We are really excited to be helping do our part, besides adopting cats of our own, to help these cats in need. Since 2013, Purina Cat Chow has supported animal shelters across the country and has donated more than $845,000 in food, supplies and renovations to advance the rescue, nutrition and adoption of cats in shelters. Rescue Bank is a non-profit organization that operates on a national food bank model to collect and distribute high-quality pet food and other supplies to a network of pre-qualified animal welfare organizations throughout the United States. These organizations are able to use the savings from their food budgets for critical veterinary care to increase the adoption of healthy pets. We can’t save them all but my family and I do whatever we can to make sure kittens and cats get the chance that Frosty and Aura gave us to make a forever family. We are forever grateful that they chose us to keep them safe, fed and warm.

    About jen @craftymomof3

I am a "crafty" mom of 3 who has been blogging for 10+ years. I’ve been a product reviewer/influencer on and off, but mostly just write about life and food I love. I’m a dyslexic, an extreme book addict, a total nerd, a fangirl, and a paranormal enthusiast. I am a New Englander at heart but I currently live in the MidWest. I am obsessed with the ocean, food, tech, books, anything supernatural, and although I am hopelessly sarcastic...I am a softy. Oh, and I like coffee. A LOT.
