    My Month or So With SodaStream……..

    About a month or so I was given the chance to try out the Sodastream  At Home Soda Maker. I have to be honest. When I heard about this product I was pretty skeptical.  I envisioned a typical seen-on-tv product that worked maybe once or twice, had parts that cost more than the product to replace or just plain didn’t work at all. My kids on the other hand were fascinated by it. So imagine their excitement when I was picked to review one! It was palpable.

    I LOVE soda. It’s kind of ridiculous actually. I have two things in my life (besides my family) that I refuse to give up and drink daily: Coffee and Pepsi.  Note I did not say I couldn’t live with out, just that I don’t want to. I don’t make any excuses why. I don’t want to and you can’t make me. 🙂

    My husband used to be worse than me. I still drink plenty of water and every glass of soda I drink is usually half full of ice. He on the other hand could go through a whole 12 pack on his own in a couple of hours. He had to learn to drink more water. Like me, he just likes the taste of it.

    My kids? Well my daughters have liked soda since they were allowed to get their hands on it. My son? Another story. When he was very little he used to tell people he couldn’t drink soda because it was “hot”. That confused an awful lot of people. He was referring to the fizz…it felt hot in his throat. Fast-forward a few years and he hasn’t met a Root beer he didn’t like.

    So this gigantic box showed up on my porch one day and when I opened it this is what I found…..

    {can I just say I was having an unbelievably bad, horrible, no good, very bad day and this cheered me up immensely}

    A box full of more flavors than I could count and a Jet SodaStream {more compact, which is perfect for our limited counterspace}
    Cola! Right up my alley..... We also got a sparkling Cola {cane sugar}. This is the Cola Free which is comparable to the Coke Free. I can't drink it because of the Sucralose, but the Sparkling Cola was all mine!
    There is a QR code that gives you instructions on how to use your SodaStream. We also received a Sparkling Water kit. You just carbonate the water, add the flavoring and you've got sparkling water!
    We also got a sample pack with the SodaStream, plus a Carbonator. We checked at Bed,Bath & Beyond and these retail for about $30 for a Carbonator...$15 if you use the trade-in program.
    Close up shot of both....
    There is basically just two really easy steps to get started...insert the CO2 container and pop in the bottle!
    Step 2 and 1!
    Fill up the bottle and put it in the fridge until it's COLD. Pop the bottle into the SodaStream, hit the carbonation button three times, tip the bottle and slowly pour the flavoring in the bottle. Put the cap on, shake it up.
    T and his Root Beer. He says to not use the exact amount they say, just a little less. It was really strong at full strength.
    Girls give it a thumbs up!
    We bought two more bottles at Target so we can make a few flavors at once...love the bright color of the orange.

    Our Review

    All in all…we love it. My husband and my middle daughter B likes it the most. {It’s been hard for mom to give up her Pepsi, but I am trying!} We have been using it over the past few months quite a few times a week and the CO2 container is still going strong. We have found it in most stores we frequent, some have better flavors than others. Target’s section in our local store is really lacking. Fortunate for us Best Buy, Crate & Barrel and Bed, Bath & Beyond in our area have LOADS of supplies for our SodaStream.

    Here’s Our Top Points About Why We Liked It:

    1. Very Easy Steps. 4 to be exact.

    2. Kids LOVE the flavors. Their favorite is: Lemon-Lime, Orange and Cran-Raspberry.

    3. Scott loves the Energy-tastes like Red Bull. {So that saves us A LOT of money right there}

    4. Reusable Bottles. Anytime we can reuse, we do. We also found small bottles {$15 for two} at Bed,Bath & Beyond that are perfect for on the go.

    5. Extremely Cost Effective. We have saved at least $50-$100 in the last month alone.

    6. Customizable. You are able to add as little or as much carbonation and flavoring to suit your tastes.

    7. Variety On Hand. You are able to make the soda on demand with out keeping large amounts of soda in your pantry. makes it really easy when you have company over.

    8. Available In A LOT Of Mainstream Stores. Tons of stores carry SodaStream and it’s accessories. Bonus bit? You can buy it online also.

    SodaStreams Attributes

    SodaStream is available in these stores:

    Plus online.

    I was given a SodaStream Product for the purposes of my review. No other compensation was received. All opinions, as always, are my own. Pictures are my own and therefore my personal property. Please do not reuse them with out permission.

I’m a dyslexic, an extreme book addict, a total nerd, a fangirl, and a paranormal enthusiast. I am a New Englander at heart but I currently live in the MidWest. I am obsessed with the ocean, food, tech, books, anything supernatural, and although I am hopelessly sarcastic...I am a softy. Oh, and I like coffee. A LOT.
