    Woven Paper Place Mats

    By Elizabeth and Kamelyn

Start with a sheet of paper. We used one 12 x 18 inches.

Fold in half the short way. Use a ruler to mark cutting and stop lines. We used the ruler as the width so we didn’t even have to measure. It doesn’t have to be perfect.

Cut from the fold down to the stop line. You may need to use safety scissors or have an adult cut for you.
    Unfold and lay flat.

Make colored strips as “weavers” the same way, using the width of the ruler. We used 8 1/2 x11 paper for the strips. Cut these using safety scissors or have an adult cut for you. You will cut up 2 pieces of paper for the weavers. Or, you can use one sheet each of 2 colors.

Use a strip to weave through the bigger paper. Go over one, under one, over and under to the edge.

With the next strip, reverse it. If you started before going over, this time you begin with under, over, under over.

Keep weaving strips until you get to the other side of the paper.

Use glue stick or glue dots on the edges to keep from sliding apart.

It looks great as is, or you can add stickers, draw pictures, or write names.

    Have fun.

    About jen @craftymomof3

I am a "crafty" mom of 3 who has been blogging for 10+ years. I’ve been a product reviewer/influencer on and off, but mostly just write about life and food I love. I’m a dyslexic, an extreme book addict, a total nerd, a fangirl, and a paranormal enthusiast. I am a New Englander at heart but I currently live in the MidWest. I am obsessed with the ocean, food, tech, books, anything supernatural, and although I am hopelessly sarcastic...I am a softy. Oh, and I like coffee. A LOT.
