    Poinsettia

    Lion Brand® Alpine Wool – Lion® Wool

    Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

    NOTES:

    Materials are sufficient to make multiple Poinsettias.

    POINSETTIA
    First Petal

    With A, ch 10.
    *Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, sl st in last ch; working along opposite side of foundation ch, ch 2, sl st in same ch as last sl st, sc in each of next 2 ch, hdc in each of next 3 ch, sc in each of next 2 ch, sl st in next ch.
    Do not fasten off. Ch 10 for next petal and repeat from * until 6 petals have been made. Fasten off.

    LEAF
    With B, work as for First Petal.

    FINISHING
    Sew petals together at center to form Poinsettia. With C, embroider several French knots in center of Poinsettia. Sew Leaf to Poinsettia. Weave in ends.

    STAMP BLOCK
    With pencil, sketch a simple design onto wood block. Working on one small section at a time, glue yarn over design outline. Allow to dry, then glue on additional yarn to completely or partially fill in design outline Allow to dry.

    FINISHING
    Gently press stamp block onto stamp pad, then onto paper as desired.

    7 balls of yarn-assorted colors

    •Additional Materials
    Cardstock or stiff paper
    Large eyed embroidery needle
    Ruler
    Compass
    Craft knife
    Craft glue
    Self adhesive stars
    Blank folded greeting cards, about 3 1/2 in. (9 cm) square

    Holiday Greeting Cards

    NOTES:

    1. Materials are sufficient for multiple cards.
    2. Tree and Gift Package cards are created by gluing yarn into shapes; Ornament and Initial cards are embroidered.

    ORNAMENT CARD
    Using compass, draw a 1 3/4 in. (4.5 cm) diameter circle onto front of a folded card. Sketch a 1/4 x 1/2 in. (6 x 13 mm) rectangle at top of circle, a small circle on top of rectangle, and a 1/2 in. (13 mm) band across width of circle. With C threaded into embroidery needle, work straight stitches over rectangle, small circle and edges of center band. Embroider straight stitch diagonal lines across center band of circle. With A threaded into embroidery needle, backstitch around remaining line of circle. If desired, glue a small piece of paper inside card to cover wrong side of embroidery.

    INITIAL CARD
    Sketch initial onto front of folded card. With D, threaded into embroidery needle, backstitch over outline of initial. If desired, glue a small piece of paper inside card to cover wrong side of embroidery.

    TREE CARD
    Mark a 1 1/2 x 3 in. (3.8 x 7.5 cm) rectangle onto cardstock. Lightly apply glue within marked rectangle. Adhere alternating short lengths of F and E to glued rectangle. Allow to dry. When dry, cut out rectangle along marked line. On reverse side of rectangle, mark centerpoint of one short side for top of tree. Draw a straight line from each lower corner to marked centerpoint for triangle sides and a straight line from centerpoint to divide triangle in half. Cut out triangle along marked side lines, then cut in half along center. Realign the triangle halves and glue to front of a folded card. Adhere a star to top of tree.

    GIFT PACKAGE CARD
    Cut a 1 12 in. (3.8 cm) square from cardstock. Wrap square with a doubled length of B in one direction.Thread D, doubled, into embroidery needle and weave over and under B strands. Glue square onto center of folded card. Glue a length of G across center of square and a small bow of G onto top of square.

    Materials:

    Holiday Homespun Yarn: Starlight 1 ball

    1 ball of black yarn

    Pom pom Maker

    Hook – Size I-9

    Stitch Markers

    Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6)

    Additional Materials
    Craft glue
    Small amount of orange yarn
    Toothpick

    Pom-pom Snowman

    Lion Brand® Holiday Homespun® – Vanna’s Choice®

    GAUGE:

    Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

    SNOWMAN
    With A and following package directions, make one large and one small pompom. Glue small pompom on top of larger pompom.

    HAT
    With B, ch 5. Join with slip st in beg ch to form a ring.
    Note: Work in continuous rnds, do not join or turn.
    Rnd 1: Place marker for beg of rnd, work 10 sc in ring.
    Rnd 2: Working in back loops only, sc in each st around.
    Rnds 3 and 4: Work through both loops, sc in each st around.
    Rnd 5: Working through front loops only, work *2 double crochet in next st, sc in next st, repeat from * around. Fasten off.

    FINISHING
    Weave in yarn ends on Hat. Glue Hat to Snowman.
    Buttons
    Tie 2 knots in a doubled length of B. Apply a small amount of glue to each knot and allow to dry. Trim yarn ends from knots, glue knots to Snowman for Buttons.
    Eyes
    Make same as buttons, using a single strand of B.
    Nose
    Wrap and glue orange yarn over about 1/2 in. (1.3 cm) at one end of toothpick. Allow to dry. Apply a small amount of glue to unwrapped end of toothpick, then insert into Snowman.
