Curb_RGBWhen I lived in New England hailing a taxi in the city (Boston, Providence) was a hit or miss experience. A lot of times I ended up walking. Since we moved to Illinois we have mostly just driven into Chicago or taken the train and walked because we thought it was going to be way too expensive to use a cab service. I had heard that there were new companies, namely Curb, that had popped up that made it way easier. I was really curious to try them (Curb) to see if it would make our city ventures easier and less stressful. My daughter and I were seriously craving Connie’s Pizza and our favorite one is located in Navy Pier, one of our go to places in Chicago. So we hopped on the Metra train and took it into the city with her younger sister and my husband. Once we got there I used the app and we had a cab with in 2 minutes. It gives you your cab number and the little map shows exactly where your cab is in your area. When he got there he was super nice, the cab was really clean and smelled new. It was a smooth ride and very quick.

Checking out was SUPER easy and it was all done right within the app. I was super pleased. My husband remarked that if it was always this easy we could go into the city for date nights more often. He dropped us off right in front and we went in to grab our yummy pizza.

Unfortunately our ride back wasn’t as great. We left the pier and walked up front about 1 hr and 15 minutes before our train came so we would have time to spare. I tried using the app for 45 minutes before I gave up. It kept telling me that there were no cabs in the area for us. So we gave up and got into one of the cabs that were in front of us. Lo and behold it was a Taxi Magic/Curb cab. Because I didn’t hail it with my app I had to pay using my money instead of the credit I already had on my app. So that was a bit of a let down. I think they need to tweak the app a little more and it will be great. It would have been nice that if I used my card associated to the account and app that it would have automatically used my credit. So jury is still out with me, I had an awesome and not so awesome experience but I definitely will try it again.

    About jen @craftymomof3

I am a "crafty" mom of 3 who has been blogging for 10+ years. I’ve been a product reviewer/influencer on and off, but mostly just write about life and food I love. I’m a dyslexic, an extreme book addict, a total nerd, a fangirl, and a paranormal enthusiast. I am a New Englander at heart but I currently live in the MidWest. I am obsessed with the ocean, food, tech, books, anything supernatural, and although I am hopelessly sarcastic...I am a softy. Oh, and I like coffee. A LOT.
